Abstract:

Adam Bechtel

When 500M+ people visit your website each month, you are bound to face infrastructure scale challenges. From STP to BGP, or cable management to naming conventions, things that might have worked in a small location may break when scaled for hundreds of millions of users. This talk explores Yahoo!’s datacenter networks as the infrastructure evolved from a single server to massive datacenters measured in the 10’s of megawatts.

Bio:

Adam is Yahoo!’s chief architect responsible for network, storage and systems infrastructure. Prior to Yahoo!, Adam was the lead network architect at Inktomi Corporation. Prior to Inktomi, Adam worked 100+ hour weeks at a startup (like everyone else during the bubble). Adam holds BS and MS degrees in engineering from the University of Colorado.
