Hybrid NVMM/Disk-based File Systems / Steve Swanson
The emerging non-volatile memories (NVM) enable very fast byte-level accesses to the memory as well as persistence. However, their cost per byte is too high to let them be a good alternative to block devices such as SSDs in the near term. We propose to extend our NOVA NVMM file system to support heterogenous storage media (e.g., SSDs and hard disks). This new file system aims to provide the performance of NVMM with the capacity of less expensive media.
