Project CRASHCART is a “hospital IT system in a box” designed to keep networked systems running in the wake of ransomware attacks, reducing downtime from weeks to hours to help ensure patient safety. Because maintaining access to patient records and lifesaving medical equipment during a cyberattack is critical, several CNS faculty and graduate students who are also members of the UC San Diego Center for Healthcare Cybersecurity are involved in this initiative.
